Vintage European Greek Amalia Style Royal Costume Doll 14.5” Velvet Beaded:
$350.00

This exquisite vintage European costume doll embodies the elegance and grandeur of historical aristocratic fashion. Dressed in an elaborate, royal-inspired ensemble reminiscent of traditional Greek Amalia ceremonial attire, she is a captivating collectible distinguished by her ornate craftsmanship, luxurious-looking fabrics, and extraordinary attention to detail.

Standing approximately 14.5 inches tall, this striking doll wears a richly decorated burgundy velvet-style gown beautifully complemented by lustrous champagne-and-gold floral brocade, intricate metallic gold-colored trim, delicate lace, and meticulously arranged multicolored beadwork. Her full, layered skirt features elaborate ornamental designs, while the fitted bodice and decorative waist ornament contribute to her sophisticated, regal appearance.

Her beautifully modeled, fabric-covered face features captivating blue side-glancing eyes, finely painted eyebrows and eyelashes, delicately blushed cheeks, and vibrant red lips. Brown hair arranged in elegant side rolls frames her distinctive expression, creating a graceful, aristocratic appearance.

Completing her magnificent ensemble is an ornate burgundy headdress with gold-colored decorative trim and a long, flowing golden tassel. The headdress consists of a circular top piece and a surrounding side section, which are separate and not physically connected. Whether this reflects the original design or a separation that occurred over time is unknown. Both sections are present and can be positioned together to create the appearance of the complete traditional-style headdress.

The doll’s fabric-covered body, traditional construction, and extensive sewn embellishments further contribute to her collectible character. Her elaborate costume is reminiscent of Greek royal-inspired Amalia dress, a historical fashion tradition associated with Queen Amalia of Greece during the 19th century.

Although the exact maker, manufacturing location, and production date remain unidentified, this remarkable doll offers an impressive representation of European historical costume artistry.

Condition

Beautiful vintage collectible condition with age-related wear consistent with a previously owned decorative doll.

The burgundy velvet-style gown exhibits a few areas of discoloration and surface marks. Additional minor signs of age, handling, and wear may be present throughout the costume, lace, metallic trim, and decorative embellishments.

Please note that the ornate headdress consists of two separate, unattached sections: a circular top piece that rests on the doll’s head and a surrounding side section. There is no stitching or other attachment connecting these sections. It is unknown whether the headdress was originally constructed this way or if separation occurred at some point in its history. Both sections are present and can be positioned together for display, as shown in the photographs.

The doll retains her elaborate costume, distinctive facial features, decorative headdress, and long golden tassel. No manufacturer’s labels or identifying marks were found. The precise age, origin, and textile fiber composition have not been authenticated.

Includes the display stand shown. Please examine all photographs carefully for additional details and overall condition.

A magnificent celebration of historical European elegance, this extraordinary costume doll captures the romance and splendor of aristocratic fashion. From the rich burgundy velvet and shimmering gold brocade to the elaborate hand-applied beadwork, delicate lace, and beautifully ornamented headdress, every element contributes to her impressive visual presentation.

Her expressive painted face and graceful appearance evoke the refined sophistication of a European noblewoman, while her regal, Amalia-inspired ensemble recalls the grandeur of 19th-century Greek court fashion.

A distinctive addition to a collection of vintage dolls, European historical costumes, traditional textile artistry, or royal-inspired decorative treasures. Beautifully suited for display in a curio cabinet, alongside antique furnishings, or as a centerpiece in a cherished doll collection, she offers timeless elegance, intricate craftsmanship, and an unmistakably regal presence.
