Vintage Dressel Arlington NJ Railroad Tail Lamp – Kerosene Marker Lantern Red VG For Sale

A genuine piece of American railroad history. This heavy steel marker/tail lamp was made by the legendary Dressel Railway Lamp & Signal Company of Arlington, New Jersey — one of the most respected names in railroad signaling equipment, supplying lanterns to lines across the country for over a century. The maker's mark is boldly embossed right on the top cap: "DRESSEL — ARLINGTON N.J. — U.S.A."

These lamps rode the rear platforms of cabooses and freight cars, glowing red through the night to signal "end of train" to everyone down the line. It's the kind of object that carries real atmosphere — the scratches and worn paint aren't damage, they're a century of service.

Most likely from U.P. although it does not have any distinct UP marks, many of the others from this collection were also from Union Pacific, also this was in Omaha.
