This rare vintage blue Dietz No. 87 1940 smudge pot is a unique piece of history. Made in USA of solid steel, it was originally designed for use as a kerosene-fueled railroad lamp or highway flare, although some folks would later repurpose these for use as backyard torches for parties and other events. The brand name Dietz is highly regarded in the railroadiana and transportation enthusiast community and is a sought-after item with some collectors.

Overall good condition for age. There is some localized paint loss, scuffs and scratches, and some small dings. See pictures! No wick. Cap screws on and off smoothly.
