This striking Mid-Century Modern piece has a compact rectangular form and a wonderful teal smoke glaze. The color transitions from soft aqua-green around the rim and interior into deeper olive, brown, charcoal, and smoky tones across the exterior. Under certain lighting, the glaze also develops subtle iridescent tones, including hints of bronze, purple, and blue. The effect is understated and changes depending on the angle and lighting, giving the piece quite a bit of visual depth.
The underside is impressed:
COVINA POTTERY
125
CALIF
This #125 form is known as a small vase, and the distinctive glaze is commonly described as teal smoke. Based on the form and glaze treatment, I believe this example dates to approximately the 1950s–1960s.
Measures approximately:
- 3 inches tall
- 3 inches long
- 2 inches wide
- Weighs slightly less than 1/2 lb
The vase is in excellent vintage condition. I could not locate any chips, cracks, or crazing. Light surface wear and minor glaze variations or inconsistencies are possible. The glaze remains glossy and beautifully preserved, with especially attractive color variation and subtle iridescence visible under changing light.
A great addition to a collection of Covina Pottery, California pottery, Mid-Century Modern ceramics, vintage art pottery, or small decorative vases and planters.
Ships the same day or next business day, including Saturdays, and will be carefully packaged in a box for safe arrival.
