This is not your ordinary gravy boat! The dramatic handle is formed as a fantastical griffon/dragon-like creature, with an intricately detailed head and curling tail-like handle. Even more charming is the small cherub/angel face incorporated beneath the pouring spout, a wonderful detail that is easy to miss at first glance.
The body features elaborate raised Rococo/Victorian-style floral and scroll decoration, standing on beautifully detailed feet. The overall form is substantial, dramatic and highly decorative.
At approximately 9 inches across, this is a particularly impressive piece of silverplate hollowware.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ
This piece has significant age-related wear to the silverplate, including areas where the silver plating has worn through to the underlying metal.
Rather than presenting this as a bright, freshly polished piece, I\'ve left much of the existing surface character intact. The resulting combination of remaining silverplate, exposed metal and darkened areas creates a wonderful aged patina and antique appearance that complements the elaborate design.
There are also scattered spots, surface marks and discoloration consistent with age and use.
This is NOT being offered as a piece in excellent or fully intact silverplate condition. The plating loss is clearly visible and should be considered before purchasing.
That said, the piece remains structurally sound and visually striking, and the exceptional form and decorative details make it a wonderful display piece for collectors of vintage silverplate, Victorian/Rococo décor, unusual serving pieces or architectural/animal-form handles.
The griffon/dragon handle and tiny cherub face beneath the spout are particularly wonderful details and really set this piece apart from an ordinary silverplate gravy boat.
