Vintage Cooper’s Hoop Driver Barrel Making Tool Steel Head Wooden Handle For Sale

Vintage cooper’s hoop driver, a traditional barrel-making tool used for fitting and tightening metal hoops around wooden barrels and casks.Coopers used these specialised tools when constructing and repairing barrels, driving the metal hoops into position to hold the wooden staves securely together. This example features a substantial steel driving head, wooden body and metal striking collar. The steel head has a textured finish and bears some indistinct stamped markings.Vintage used condition with signs of age and previous workshop use, including scratches, knocks, staining, discolouration and surface wear.IMPORTANT: There is a visible crack along the steel head/body, as clearly shown in the close-up photographs. This has not been repaired or tested, and the tool is being sold as a vintage collectable rather than guaranteed suitable for working use.The wooden section shows age-related marks and wear, while the metal components have surface oxidation and general wear.An interesting piece of traditional cooperage equipment, ideal for collectors of vintage woodworking tools, barrel-making equipment and historic trades. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description, particularly regarding the crack and overall condition.Dimensions: please see photographs.⸻Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery.
