Detailed Description:
This vintage retail relic box features the classic printed label on the front: \"Civil War Relics Dug from Southern Battlefields and Campsites.\" The back of the box retains its original typed inventory manifest label, perfectly matching the 5 historical pieces contained inside.
Please note the outer display housing shows wear from age. The protective clear glass cover is entirely missing, and the interior orange/red display sand has shifted over time. However, unlike most vintage souvenir sets found today, this collection still contains every single one of its original pieces.
Complete Artifact Inventory:
1. Pocketknife Fragment - PRESENT. A classic weathered, folding multi-blade camp knife. Features metal bolsters, brass pins, a green copper/brass liner patina, and heavily rotted, split wooden scales. The steel blades are frozen shut with heavy iron scale and rust.
2. Union 3-Ring Minié Ball (.58 Caliber) - PRESENT. Features excellent, clear rifling grooves and a heavy, natural white lead carbonate patina from long-term soil burial.
3. Sharps Carbine Bullet - PRESENT. A smaller conical cavalry projectile featuring distinct sharp, narrow ribbing bands and a classic white/tan dug patina.
4. Colonial Button - PRESENT. A classic, flat metallic \"coin\" button showing a dark, weathered soil patina and an authentic thin profile.
5. .69 Caliber Round Ball / Musket Ball - PRESENT. A large, heavy lead projectile used in early-war smoothbore muskets (such as the Model 1842). Features an authentic oxidized patina.
Condition Notes:
The black cardboard display frame shows scuffing, edge wear, and corner softening from storage. The clear top cover is missing, leaving the interior exposed. Artifacts are loosely nestled into the weathered white cotton backing and shifted orange sand lining. Please study the close-up photos carefully to evaluate the exact condition of the artifacts before offerding.
