Vintage Chinese Silk Embroidered Cat Table Screen Double Sided Hardwood Stand For Sale

A cat on each side. This vintage Chinese silk embroidered table screen is double sided, with a different kitten stitched on each face: a fluffy gray and white kitten with blue eyes on one side and an orange and white kitten with blue eyes on the other, each crouching to watch a tiny praying mantis. Fine silk thread work on pale green silk, under glass in a round hardwood frame, set in a carved openwork hardwood stand. The silk is done in the Suzhou embroidery style, with the fur worked in fine split stitches. A charming tabletop piece for a desk, shelf or mantel, and a great gift for a cat lover or collector of Chinese embroidery and Asian decor.

Size: about 8.5 inches wide by 14 inches tall on the stand.

Condition: good. The silk is clean on both sides with no stains or holes seen, and the glass is in place. The round frame is made in joined sections and shows visible seams, with a small crack at one joint on the side of the frame. The stand has normal light wear. No maker mark found.
