Vintage Chinese silk embroidered textile depicting a sewing room scene in lively colors. This is a lovely example of Chinese Peasant Painting, a genre that was actively promoted by the Chinese government starting in the 1950s and expanded in the 1970s to encourage everyday farmers to express commune life and socialist ideals. Professional artists were sent to train locals, blending traditional techniques with modern social themes.
