Vintage Chinese Hand Mirror with Pale Celadon Nephrite Jade Handle & Original Box
A charming mid-20th-century Chinese export vanity hand mirror, perfect for the collector of Asian decorative arts or a refined dressing-table accent. The circular head measures approximately 2.27 inches across and features a delicately hand-painted portrait of a traditional Chinese lady in elegant upswept coiffure and red robes, framed by a dark metal beaded border. The reverse is a functional mirror.
The slender handle is fashioned from smooth, pale celadon nephrite jade, gently tapered and fitted with a silver-toned metal collar and a small red silk loop. Overall length is 6 inches. The piece is presented in its original yellow cardboard box decorated with classic Chinese scrolling floral and geometric motifs and lined with white fabric.
The jade has not been laboratory certified. The mirror and handle are in good vintage condition; the original box shows expected age-related wear, scuffs, and edge fraying consistent with its years. A delightful and authentic example of the refined yet accessible Chinese vanity mirrors popular for export in the middle decades of the 20th century.
