Vintage Chinese hand-carved soapstone sculpture of peony blossoms and leaves, carved in openwork from a single piece of amber-brown and grey stone, on its own pierced grey soapstone stand.
The front shows three flower heads among layered leaves; the back is plain with open piercings. The carving sits on a separate footed base with pierced decoration.
Condition: used, from an estate. Surface wear, dust in the recesses and small nibbles to some leaf tips and base edges consistent with age, as is typical for soft soapstone. No large breaks or repairs seen. Please review all photos, which form part of the description.
