Vintage Chinese blue-and-white vase featuring hand-painted phoenix and cloud decoration with dramatic sculptural dragon-form handles.
The baluster-form vessel is decorated throughout in cobalt blue against a pale glazed ground, with phoenixes encircling the body, stylized cloud motifs and repeating geometric borders. Applied dragon handles rise along either side of the neck and give the piece an especially sculptural silhouette.
A painted inscription around the neck references the Zhizheng era of the Yuan dynasty. The inscription is considered apocryphal and decorative; this vase is a later 20th-century interpretation inspired by earlier Chinese blue-and-white ceramics rather than a Yuan-period object.
The underside is unglazed, revealing the warm buff-colored ceramic body.
Vintage condition with expected surface and glaze variation from age and manufacture. Minor wear and imperfections are visible, particularly around the applied handles, rim and unglazed foot. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
