Vintage Charles Morrill No. 1 Saw Set Tool Made in USA 1890 For Sale

This Charles Morrill No.1 saw set tool comes from my father's tool collection, and most likely dates from 1890. It is in good working order. The inscription on the outer surface of one handle is "CHAS. MORRILL REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. NEW YORK". The tool matches the image given in the patent application that was filed on 7/18/1890, which was granted on 12/2/1890, with patent number 441,962. Later Morrill saw set tools generally include patent numbers or dates, so this version of the No.1 tool was likely produced prior to or soon after the 12/2/1890 patent grant. Other inscriptions on the tool include: a large "1" on the inside of one handle; the Charles Morrill monogram, which consists of a superimposed "C" and "M" between two circled plus symbols; a trade mark symbol that consists of a triangle with "APEX" inscribed inside it, between the words "TRADE" and "MARK".
