Vintage Ornately Carved Amber-Colored Resin Lidded Trinket Box – Possible Bakelite/Catalin
Beautiful vintage round lidded box featuring elaborate raised floral decoration, scrolling foliage, and intricate geometric patterns.
The box has a rich reddish-brown exterior with striking translucent golden-yellow and butterscotch marbling, particularly visible on the underside. The deeply detailed decoration appears hand-carved or hand-finished, although the manufacturing method has not been authenticated.
Possible Bakelite/Catalin Phenolic Resin
The material feels substantial and heavy for its size. A Simichrome polish test produced tobacco-brown residue, which is consistent with some phenolic resins. The exact material has not been professionally tested or authenticated, so Bakelite/Catalin identification is not guaranteed.
