Braniff Airlines (historically operating in this era as Braniff Inc. or "Braniff II") was a revived American carrier headquartered in Dallas, Texas, that primarily served the Midwest, Sun Belt, and Northeast regions out of major operating hubs at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Kansas City International Airport (MCI). Emerging in 1984 following the bankruptcy and liquidation of the original legendary legacy carrier, this secondary chapter sought to capture the historic brand's prestige before competitive market pressures forced its eventual cessation of operations in 1989. Throughout its late-1980s run, the airline operated a modernized, highly recognizable mainline commercial fleet tailored for domestic trunk routes, prominently flying the Boeing 727-200, the Boeing 737-200, and the Airbus A320.
