Vintage souvenir bottle opener from the Blue Hole attraction in Castalia, Ohio.
Features a slightly translucent molded handle with a colorful scenic image reading “Blue Hole, Castalia, Ohio.” The exact handle material is unknown but appears to be an early plastic or similar synthetic material—not wood. It has not been tested or identified as celluloid, Bakelite, or Lucite.
The metal opener has considerable oxidation, surface corrosion, discoloration, and wear. The scenic decoration remains recognizable but shows age-related fading, staining, and surface wear. The green end portion also has visible wear. No maker’s mark was found.
The original Blue Hole operated as a popular Ohio roadside attraction from the 1920s until approximately 1990, giving this piece additional regional and roadside-Americana interest. Please review the photographs closely for condition.
