Description
Wonderful vintage glass figural Christmas ornament featuring the charming detail and character that make older holiday decorations so collectible. Figural ornaments were produced in an incredible variety of shapes, from people and animals to fruits, vegetables, objects, characters, and whimsical holiday forms.
Unlike a traditional round ornament, these molded glass pieces were created to give the Christmas tree dimension and personality. Many were individually decorated with combinations of paint, frosting, glitter, mica, silvering, and other decorative finishes, making each surviving example slightly different.
These vintage glass figurals are beautiful additions to collections of antique and vintage Christmas ornaments and display especially well alongside Shiny Brite ornaments, German and European glass, indents, teardrops, clip-ons, feather tree ornaments, and other old-world holiday decorations.
Because these pieces were made of thin blown or molded glass and were intended to be used year after year, surviving examples often show signs of their history. Variations in paint, silvering, finish, caps, and decoration are part of their vintage character.
