This ELEGANT cotton \"birds in the air\" quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with an unusual four patch/diamond border and more than 3500 pieces. It appears to be a quilt made in the 1930s or 40s, but there are also the names: \"Lyle\" and \"Kathy\" in the border with the date \"1966.\" Perhaps this was a wedding gift given in that year?It measures 68\" X 82\" and is in excellent, never washed condition, with a couple of small, inconspicuous spots and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall.
There are straight line designs quilted throughout at 6-7 stitches to the inch.
The back is the same slightly off-white fabric used in the background, the hand stitched binding is lavender, and the batting is thin.
The DYNAMIC DESIGN, WONDERFUL VINTAGE FABRICS, UNUSUAL BORDER and GREAT CONDITION make collector\'s quilt stand out -- it would make a terrific wall hanging!
