Vintage Bates Automatic Eyeleter manufactured by The Bates Manufacturing Co., Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. Heavy-duty vintage mechanical eyelet fastener designed for punching and setting eyelets in paper and similar materials. The machine features a substantial cast-metal base, long operating lever and automatic eyelet-feed mechanism. The top housing is embossed “Bates,” “Automatic Eyeleter,” “Use Bates Eyelets Only,” and manufacturer information for The Bates Manufacturing Co., Orange, N.J., U.S.A.
This example remains in unrestored vintage condition with substantial original age and patina. It shows scratches, scuffs, oxidation, finish loss, discoloration, surface grime and general wear throughout. The operating mechanism has been manually moved, but the machine has NOT been tested with eyelets. Actual eyelet feeding, punching and setting performance is therefore unknown.
