Up for sale is an exquisite vintage Art Deco ceramic lady head bust figurine, beautifully crafted in Japan during the mid-20th century. This piece perfectly captures the timeless glamour of the era, featuring a serene expression with closed eyes, a stylized sculpted bob haircut, and a dramatically elongated neck resting on a classic square pedestal base. It stands a substantial 8 inches tall, making it a premium statement piece for any shelf, mantel, or vintage collection.
Condition Details:
This figurine is in beautiful, collector-quality vintage condition with absolutely zero chips, cracks, or repairs along any of the delicate hair points or pedestal corners. The high-gloss glaze retains a gorgeous factory shine. It has been strictly cabinet-kept for display purposes only.
As expected with mid-century Japanese pottery, there are a few minor, completely smooth factory characteristics present from the original kiln firing that show its authentic hand-made origin:
• One small, raised factory glaze bubble/pop on the upper forehead near the hairline.
• One very minor, smooth dark kiln/mineral speck directly on the molded hairline on top of the head.
• One tiny, smooth manufacturing mineral speck resting just under her right eye.
• A couple of tiny, smooth glaze pinholes and some very light, beautiful vintage age-toning on the back of the neck.
All of these features are smooth to the touch, entirely sealed within the glaze from production, and do not detract from the gorgeous display quality of this piece.
Markings:
The unglazed underbase features the authentic, crisp stamped "MADE IN JAPAN" vintage export mark.
