Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Mid-Century Modern "Ruska" stoneware soup tureen / covered casserole dish with its matching notched lid. Designed by the iconic Ulla Procopé for Arabia Finland in the 1960s, the Ruska line features a famous iron oxide matte glaze that gives each individual piece its own unique, mottled earthy brown and charcoal black pattern.
This specific piece is exceptionally collectible because it retains its crisp, bright white original factory stamp on the bottom ("Arabia Made in Finland Oven-to-Table"). On most vintage Ruska pieces, this stamp has completely washed away over time.
