Up for sale is an authentic antique "YANKEE" No. 10 Ratcheting Screwdriver produced by North Bros. Mfg. Co. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Based on the stamped patent dates and pre-Stanley North Bros. branding, this piece dates to the early 20th century (circa 1906 to the 1940s).

• North Brothers Manufacturing Co. was founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1878. In 1897, they acquired Forest City Screwdriver Co. and hired designer Zachary Furbish, launching their famous "Yankee" line of ratcheting tools.

• Due to superior quality and design, North Bros. "Yankee" tools became the industry standard for tradesmen throughout the early 20th century.

• In 1946, the company was bought out by Stanley Works, making pre-1946 original North Bros. stamped tools particularly sought after by vintage tool Length: Approximately 5 inches.

• Mechanism: The ratchet direction selector switch slides smoothly into all three positions (Right / Neutral / Left).

• Wood Handle: Original turned wooden bulb handle displays an attractive aged patina with smooth hand-wear. Features a distinct, visible vertical split/crack extending downward from the top ferrule rim into the grip (clearly shown in photos). The handle remains attached to the metal ferrule/shank, but the split is present and clearly visible.

• Metal / Plating: Aged brass/nickel collar shows honest vintage tarnish, wear, and surface patina.

• Bit / Blade: Flathead slotted drive bit is solid with intact tip profile showing standard tool wear from use.
