The lamp has been re-wired with a high-quality, period-appropriate cloth-covered cord.As a highly collectible piece of mid-century lighting, this lamp is an ideal addition for collectors seeking authentic, well-preserved decorative arts. This lamp stands as a durable and sophisticated accent piece, offering both historical value and a warm, ambient glow to a bedroom, hallway, or living space.
The Mantle Lamp Company of America, later famous for its Aladdin brand, was founded in Chicago in 1908. Initially recognized for perfecting non-electric kerosene mantle lamps that produced unparalleled brightness, the company transitioned into electric home lighting as power grids expanded across the country. In the late 1930s, Aladdin introduced and patented Alacite glass, an ivory-like material designed to resemble carved alabaster. This specialized glass formulation became a hallmark of the company\'s mid-century aesthetic and remains highly sought after by lighting historians today.
