The fabric has a glitter weave woven into it, hard to capture in photos, but wanted to point that out as well as a few spots.
Vintage African Baule Indigo Mudcloth from Ivory Coast, approximately 20-30 years old.
These are essentially hand made from start to finish using cotton fabric hand spun and dyed by hand. Strips of cloth are then hand woven together to make the larger piece.
Sadly, in recent years, mud cloth has been copied by factories in China and India, threatening a centuries old tradition.
