Up for sale is a highly collectible and beautifully preserved piece of historic American railroadiana an authentic Vintage Adlake Railroad Switch Signal Lamp.
Manufactured by the renowned Adams & Westlake Company, this heavy-duty trackside lantern is a standout visual piece due to its striking, original multi-colored target hoods.
As shown across the images, the lantern features two large, flared circular metal targets painted in a bold safety yellow and two matching flared targets finished in a deep signal red.
The top dome lid features a robust hinged design and proudly displays the classic "ADLAKE" brand name boldly embossed directly into the heavy metal housing, verifying its absolute authenticity.
A closer inspection of the glass optical lenses reveals a fascinating and rare configuration designed for clear trackside communication.
Nestled within the yellow target hoods are deep amber-orange glass lenses, which show off a beautiful, rich depth when viewing the lamp head-on.
Concurrently, the red target hoods house incredible, deep cobalt blue glass lenses, as clearly captured in the crisp reflections.
All four original glass lenses are intact, offering an exceptional opportunity for collectors who appreciate multi-lens and multi-color variations.
The main body of the lantern is finished in a clean industrial matte black, which provides an excellent, high-contrast backdrop that makes the yellow and red signal hoods visually pop.
The lamp is structurally sound and stands upright on a durable integrated mounting bracket base.
This vintage piece is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age, exhibiting a light, genuine trackside patina with minor edge wear on the painted targets, faint surface scuffs, and small spots of paint loss from actual railroad operation.
These minor imperfections only serve to enhance its historic charm, making it a spectacular conversation piece for a home office, den, or specialized railroad collection.
Please review all pictures carefully to appreciate the complete color configuration, structural quality, and excellent display potential of this historic Adlake lantern.
