Vintage AZO RPPC Collapsed Truss Bridge Wreck Disaster Scene Hotel Background.Postcard DetailsA vintage real photo postcard (RPPC) showing a wrecked steel truss swing bridge. The bridge's approach span has collapsed and twisted down into the water, its deck timbers fallen and tangled, while the through-truss span still stands on its cylindrical concrete pivot pier with its upper members broken. Several men stand on the surviving deck at the right, in front of a building with a "HOTEL" sign. The negative number "II" is lettered on the pier, so this card is one of a numbered series of views of the wreck, most likely made by a local photographer at the scene. No caption, place name, or date appears anywhere on the card, and none is claimed here. The divided back carries the AZO stamp box with two triangles pointing up and two pointing down, the style used from about 1904 to 1918, confirming a genuine real photo postcard. The back is unposted and blank.Condition NotesThe photograph is sharp, with fine detail in the truss work and the fallen timbers; the sky is pale and washed out, as printed. There are black ink spots on the front: a small cluster on the face of the concrete pier and a heavier spot in the bottom border below it. These are surface marks on this card only; the back shows no corresponding marks. There is light corner and edge wear. The back is blank with light edge toning and a few tiny ink specks low at the center. No writing or postmark.Shipping and Handling◆ Packaging: Shipped securely in a protective plastic sleeve with card stock support inside a white envelope.
