Vintage AMT Solid Brass Outside Caliper Pottery Sculpture Measuring Tool For Sale

Vintage solid-brass outside measuring caliper clearly stamped “AMT” near the pivot. Its nearly circular jaws were designed to capture and compare the outside diameter of a rounded object. The measurement could then be transferred to a ruler, another workpiece, or a corresponding component.This practical form would have been useful to a potter fitting lids and maintaining consistent vessel proportions, as well as to sculptors, woodturners, modelmakers, and patternmakers reproducing rounded forms.
