This item is a vintage 1950s–1960s "Brushes by Baker" countertop retail display rack. Manufactured by the Baker Brush Co., these wire merchandise stands were placed on hardware store counters to display paintbrush stock. The upper portion features a lithographed advertising sign depicting a paintbrush, mid-century typography reading "For Smoother Faster Painting / Brushes by Baker / 100% Pure Bristle", and the brand's signature cartoon painter mascot. The metal prongs below were designed to hold paintbrushes by their handles or hanging holes.
The item is in excellent condition for its age. The cardboard sign shows some fading, dirt, minor water or oil stains, and some paint overspray on the backside, as shown in the photos. It appears that the metal rack of the display has been repainted black, (the black overspray). There doesn’t appear to be any rust or if there is any it’s minimal. We were unable to find any other displays of this exact type anywhere else online. Please review the images for the item’s condition.
