Vintage political memorabilia lot featuring a large Democratic-themed pinback button and two matching Democratic donkey stick pins.
Included:
* 1 large round red button reading “Love a Democrat… Who ever heard of a good piece of elephant?”
* 1 red/white Democratic donkey stick pin marked “DEM.”
* 1 black/white Democratic donkey stick pin marked “DEM.”
The large button measures approximately 2½ inches across based on the ruler shown.
The two donkey pieces are small novelty stick pins with pointed metal pins on the reverse. The red donkey has some age-related surface wear, while the black/white donkey also shows some wear/discoloration.
The large button has light scratches and surface wear but retains its glossy red finish. The metal reverse and pinback are intact.
This slogan is documented in political memorabilia and contemporary commentary from the 1990s; a 1996 Reason article specifically discussed a Democratic convention button with the “good piece of elephant” wording.
