Bon Jovi is on the radio. Everyone's living room contains at least one piece of furniture upholstered in a floral pattern that could conceal a small child. And somewhere, an Avon representative opens her catalog and announces:
We have elves.
Not perfume.
Not moisturizer.
Tiny wearable Christmas elves named Happy and Snappy. 🎄
And frankly, look at them.
Happy is over there in his little red-and-green situation looking like he has never experienced a single consequence in his life. Snappy appears equally delighted despite being destined to spend the holiday season dangling from someone's sweater, purse, package, tree, or whatever other object required festive elf supervision in 1987.
These are genuine Avon Christmas Elf Tie-On Pins, sold together as a lot of two with Happy and Snappy, and both are still sitting on their original ornament-shaped display cards more than three decades later.
The backs are even wonderfully specific: created in Taiwan exclusively for Avon Products, New York, and © Avon 1987. Because these aren't mystery elves. These elves have paperwork.
They are tiny. They are festive. They have names.
And somehow nobody freed them from their packaging for nearly 40 Christmases.
At this point, I think they own the place. 🎅
