Beautiful handcrafted stoneware crock produced by Rowe Pottery Works in Cambridge, Wisconsin in 1986. This substantial piece features the classic hand-painted cobalt blue rooster decoration over a traditional salt-glazed finish, making it a wonderful example of American folk art pottery.
The hand-painted cobalt blue decoration is a rooster motif, one of Rowe Pottery’s more desirable traditional designs. The lidded crock with side lug handles is typical of their early salt-glazed reproductions inspired by 19th-century American stoneware. Rowe shifted to producing these museum-quality historical-style pieces in the early 1980s as interest in antique cobalt-decorated crocks grew.
Perfect as a kitchen crock, utensil holder, or primitive farmhouse display.
