Description

🌸 DescriptionA vintage hand-carved wooden bear head wall sculpture from Japan.Made in 1986, this compact but highly three-dimensional piece features a dramatic roaring bear with its mouth opened wide. The mouth is deeply carved to create substantial depth, with individually modeled teeth, fangs, tongue, muzzle, and facial contours giving the bear a powerful and expressive appearance. The eyes are emphasized against the darker facial surfaces, creating a strong gaze when the sculpture is viewed from the front. The fur across the forehead and head is represented through flowing carved grooves and changing chisel depth, allowing light and shadow to emphasize the texture of the bear's coat. The piece is made from Enju wood and combines dark brown to black coloration with areas of visible natural wood tone.Although compact at 18 cm / 7.09 in high, the 12 cm / 4.72 in depth gives the sculpture a strong projecting three-dimensional presence when displayed on a wall.⚙️ FeaturesHand-carved Enju wood construction, dramatic open-mouth roaring bear design, carved teeth and tongue, deeply sculpted muzzle, detailed fur carving, expressive painted eyes, substantial three-dimensional depth, wall-hanging format, vintage 1986 Showa-era character, and Japanese folk-art craftsmanship.📏 Size & MeasurementsHeight:18 cm / 180 mm / 7.09 inWidth:18 cm / 180 mm / 7.09 inDepth:12 cm / 120 mm / 4.72 inWeight:650 g / 22.93 oz / 1.43 lbMaterial:Enju WoodMotif:Bear HeadTechnique:Hand Carved / Hair Carving / Relief CarvingYear:1986Era:Showa PeriodCountry of Origin:Japan🧾 ConditionVintage pre-owned condition. There are some age-related scratches, surface wear, and signs of previous display and storage. No major damage has been described. Please carefully review all photos for the exact condition before purchase.📦 Included1 × Vintage Hand-Carved Bear Head Wall SculptureOnly the item shown is included.🏮 NotesThis piece was made in 1986.The dramatic open-mouth composition makes this piece especially distinctive compared with more common closed-mouth bear wall carvings.Suitable for collectors of Hokkaido-style folk art, Japanese wood carving, vintage bear collectibles, Showa-era crafts, Mingei-style art, rustic wall décor, and traditional Japanese decorative art.
