Vintage Arius Tile Co. St. Francis of Assisi ceramic art tile, dating to approximately 1985. Features the wonderful St. Francis design surrounded by a deer, lion, lamb and birds, with raised hand-painted/glazed detailing.
This design has been identified in other marked examples as Arius Tile Co., Santa Fe, 1985, design CHRI 1045.
Please note: This particular tile is permanently set into its wooden frame, so the reverse of the tile cannot be accessed to verify the manufacturer’s marking without potentially damaging the piece. Attribution is based on comparison with identical documented Arius examples.
The distressed blue/white wooden frame gives this example a particularly charming folk-art appearance.
