Rare 1981 Soviet 3D Space Stereo Postcard Signed by Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov's Daughter
Up for sale is an exceptional piece of Soviet space memorabilia: an original 1981 3D stereo (lenticular) postcard with a handwritten personal birthday greeting signed by Oksana Leonova, the daughter of legendary Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov (the first human to perform a spacewalk in 1965).
THE HISTORICAL & ARTISTIC STORY BEHIND THIS ITEM:
1. Hand-Signed by Oksana Leonova:
The back features a personal handwritten birthday message in blue pen:
"Seryozha, I wish you a happy birthday, wish you happiness and good grades (4s and 5s) at school. Oksana Leonova."
Signed "Оксана Леонова" (Oksana Leonova), the younger daughter of Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.
2. Artwork by Andrei Sokolov (The Premier Space Artist):
The front artwork was created by Andrei Sokolov, the premier sci-fi and space artist of the Soviet era. Sokolov was a close personal friend and artistic co-author of Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov. Together, Leonov and Sokolov published famous art albums and held joint exhibitions on space exploration. This close family friendship explains how this postcard originated directly from the Leonov family home.
3. 3D Stereo / Lenticular Technology:
The front features a 3D lenticular stereo photograph created by V. Generalov based on the 1981 documentary film "Extraterrestrial Chronicle". It depicts cosmonauts V. Lyakhov and V. Ryumin outside the Salyut-Soyuz orbital complex.
4. Publisher & Date:
Published in Moscow in 1981 by the "Bureau of Propaganda of Soviet Cinema Art" / EPTO packed between rigid cardboard layers and shipped via registered international airmail with a tracking number. Combined shipping is available.
