Vintage 1962 Japanese Wedding Bride Groom Portrait Photo Meiji Kinenkan B&W
Brand/Studio: Meiji Kinenkan (Meiji Memorial Hall) photo studio; original 1962 black and white gelatin-silver wedding portrait photograph of a Japanese bride and groom.
The image shows the bride seated on an upholstered bench wearing a formal patterned kimono and traditional bridal hair ornaments, while the groom stands beside her in a dark suit with bow tie and white gloves, posed against a neutral studio backdrop.
The print is mounted to a textured cardboard folder with scalloped edges; the lower right corner of the photograph carries a blue Meiji Kinenkan studio stamp in Japanese characters, and the lower margin of the mount has a matching red-ink studio credit.
The inner mount below the image holds a small paper slip with handwritten Japanese notation dated Showa 37 (1962) and listing the couple's names and ages, providing personal context for the wedding portrait.
The outer folding presentation folder is plain on the reverse and front cover, decorated only with a printed chrysanthemum crest enclosing stylized characters, echoing the formal aesthetic of mid-20th-century Japanese studio portrait work.
Actual Measurements: Folder: 7 5/8 in x 11 3/4 in; Picture: 5 3/8 in x 8 in.
Condition: Vintage 1962 Japanese wedding photograph and presentation folder show handling and storage wear from age. Gelatin-silver print surface displays faint gloss variation and a few light handling impressions visible in reflected light, while the image area remains sharp. Mount and inner folder panels have overall toning, scattered small spots, and mild waviness along the scalloped edges. Exterior folder covers exhibit light surface rubbing, small marks, and soft corner and spine tip wear but remain structurally sound with printed crest clear and intact.
