# Vintage 1960s West German Sputnik Spherical Weather Station & Custom MCM Tripod Base
Up for sale is a visually spectacular, one-of-a-kind Mid-Century Modern desktop display pairing. This listing includes a vintage 1960s Sputnik-style spherical weather station made in West Germany, custom-matched with a vintage mid-century modern solid brass tripod accent base.
While not a factory-original matching set, these two authentic vintage pieces have been beautifully married together. The clear acrylic instrument globe sits perfectly balanced inside the top collar ring of the tripod frame, creating a striking, architectural Space Age statement piece perfect for any desk, credenza, or retro home display.
### Important Pairing Details:
* **The Base Setup:** The included brass tripod stand is a separate vintage mid-century modern accent piece (originally styled similarly to a classic buffet warming stand). It features gorgeous tapered legs with wood-finish mid-sections and elegant brass feet. It is NOT the original factory-issued circular pedestal base, but it functions beautifully as a secure, high-style display stand.
### Instrument Sphere Details:
* **Origin:** Clear globe unit made in West Germany (MCM Space Age era).
* **Precision Dials:** Houses three separate mechanical instruments: a thermometer, a relative humidity hygrometer gauge, and a centered barometer dial.
* **Functional Condition:** Fully tested and operational—the dials react cleanly to atmospheric and environmental changes.
* **Cosmetic Condition:** Both pieces are in great vintage shape with an authentic, character-rich patina. The clear plexiglass sphere is bright and transparent with only minimal faint surface scuffs from age. The heavy brass stand and metal sphere accents show typical, age-appropriate light oxidation, surface wear, and tarnish that highlight their genuine vintage history.
*Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to evaluate the exact cosmetic details of this custom-matched set before purchasing. The items will be meticulously separated, wrapped securely, and fully insured for safe transit.*
