Vintage 1960s Viscount 14 Transistor AM Pocket Radio Taiwan Working:
$44.99

All vintage electronics sold as-is due to age!
Product Details:
Vintage Viscount 14-transistor portable AM pocket radio, made in Taiwan and believed to date to approximately the 1960s.
This compact transistor radio features distinctive mid-century styling, with a black plastic cabinet, silver-tone front trim, textured metallic upper panel, raised Viscount lettering, red triangular emblem, and a small rectangular tuning window.
The lower front features a black horizontal speaker grille with a geometric, staggered pattern and embossed \"14 TRANSISTOR\" lettering.
The contrasting black-and-silver finish and compact rectangular design give this radio an attractive vintage appearance, making it a nice addition to a collection of mid-century portable electronics.
The original rear identification label remains present and identifies the radio as an all-transistor pocketable radio manufactured in Taiwan.
The label specifies an AM frequency range of 540–1600 KC and 9-volt battery operation, including references to period battery equivalents.
An exact numerical model designation has not been independently confirmed.
This radio has been tested and does receive AM stations, although its audio output is relatively quiet and some static is present.
Testing:
TESTED — RECEIVES AM STATIONS WITH LOW AUDIO VOLUME.
The radio was tested and successfully received approximately four to five AM radio stations.
Station reception was confirmed, although the number of stations received was somewhat limited during testing.
Audio output is noticeably quiet, and some static/noise was heard during reception.
The radio is therefore not represented as operating at full original performance.
During operation of the tuning control, there appears to be some looseness or movement within the internal chassis or tuning assembly.
This movement was noticed while using the tuning knob. The exact source of the looseness has not been determined.
Although the radio receives stations, the internal movement and low audio output may indicate a need for future adjustment or servicing. No specific mechanical or electronic diagnosis has been made.
No attempt has been made to tighten or adjust the internal assembly, repair the tuning mechanism, or improve the audio output.
No electronic measurements, alignment, component-level testing, extended-duration testing, or internal servicing were performed.
The radio is being sold in its current tested condition, with the above limitations fully disclosed.
Reasonable offers welcome, happy to work with buyers.
Condition:
Good overall vintage cosmetic presentation, with visible age-related wear, surface scratches, residue, and some apparent internal looseness.
The front of the radio presents nicely overall and retains its distinctive silver-and-black appearance.
The raised Viscount nameplate and red triangular emblem are present and remain visually attractive.
The upper metallic-textured front panel has some minor scuffs, scratches, and surface wear.
The small rectangular tuning window is present, with the frequency markings visible.
The black front speaker grille remains present and shows minor dust, scuffs, and normal age-related surface wear.
The embossed \"14 TRANSISTOR\" lettering remains visible along the lower front.
The silver-tone perimeter trim has scattered small scratches, scuffs, and marks consistent with age and previous handling.
The top of the cabinet presents nicely overall, with some minor scratches and surface imperfections.
The bottom and exterior edges also have minor scratches, scuffs, and cosmetic wear.
The rear cabinet is present and retains its original identification label.
The rear identification label has some age-related discoloration, staining, and surface wear, but much of the printed information remains legible.
There is an area of unusual residue or gunk along the right side of the rear cabinet. The exact nature of this material has not been determined.
The residue has not been aggressively cleaned or removed.
The remaining exterior surfaces show additional minor scratches, scuffs, and normal age-related cosmetic imperfections.
During operation of the tuning control, some internal movement or looseness was noticed. The source and extent of this movement have not been independently determined.
No attempt has been made to disassemble, adjust, or repair the internal assembly.
The radio remains capable of receiving several AM stations, but the audio output is quiet and some static is present.
Please review all photographs carefully, particularly the front metal trim, cabinet edges, rear identification label, residue along the right rear side, and general cosmetic condition.
This radio would make an appealing addition to a vintage transistor radio collection, particularly for collectors interested in Viscount-branded portable radios and Taiwan-made electronics from the 1960s.
It may also appeal to a hobbyist interested in servicing or improving a radio that already demonstrates AM reception.
