Vintage 1960s Metal First Aid Kit with Original/Period Medical Supplies
Wonderful vintage metal FIRST AID case containing an extensive assortment of period first-aid and medical supplies. Based on the packaging and ZIP-coded addresses found on several of the contents, the collection appears to date primarily to the 1960s.
The case retains a surprisingly large assortment of vintage supplies, with many of the boxes and packages appearing unopened and unused.
Visible contents include American White Cross sterile gauze bandages in multiple sizes, 1-yard surgical gauze, sterile absorbent cotton, adhesive tape, 31-count assorted plastic adhesive bandages, gauze pads and other dressings; Ever Ready First Aid Corp. tourniquet and forceps; Ever Ready 40-inch triangular bandage; Johnson & Johnson Steri-Pad sterile gauze pads; Stafford Laboratories gauze-covered cotton eye pads; vintage Q-Tips Flexible Sticks 10-count safety swabs; and KleenCut forged-steel U.S.A. scissors still in clear packaging.
The American White Cross products feature the distinctive blue, white and red mid-century packaging and are marked The American White Cross Labs., Inc., New Rochelle, N.Y., Made in U.S.A.
The Ever Ready tourniquet/forceps package is marked New York, N.Y. 10028, while the Stafford Laboratories eye-pad packaging is marked Worcester, Mass. 01603, helping place at least those contents after the introduction of ZIP Codes in 1963.
The metal carrying case has a textured light gray/silver finish with large red FIRST AID lettering, carrying handle, latch and divided interior.
Condition: Very nice vintage condition overall. Many supplies appear unopened/unused. Boxes and wrappers show varying degrees of age, discoloration, edge wear and storage wear consistent with their age. Scissors appear unused in their original clear packaging. The contents have not been opened or disturbed simply to verify what is inside.
This is being sold exactly as pictured. I cannot guarantee that every item originally supplied with the kit is still present or that all contents were originally packaged with this particular case.
