The same colorful Disneyland Hotel and Monorail artwork appears on the card backs and on the original box, with © Walt Disney Productions printed at the lower edge of the image.
The original gold box is marked “Remembrance Playing Cards – Germproofed by COROBEX – BRIDGE.”
The deck appears to have seen little, if any, actual play. When removed for examination, the cards were still neatly arranged in suit and numerical order and felt as though they may have been taken from the box only rarely, if ever. The playing surfaces remain remarkably clean and crisp, and the deck includes two matching jokers.
The Ace of Spades identifies the maker as Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A.
The artwork captures a particularly nostalgic era of the Disneyland Hotel, when the Monorail ran directly to the hotel complex. Similar Disneyland Hotel playing card decks featuring the hotel and Monorail have been identified by major Disneyana sale houses as dating from the 1960s.
A portion of the original manufacturer’s playing-card seal remains on the box, a nice surviving detail of the deck’s original packaging.
Condition: The cards are in excellent vintage condition, exceptionally clean and well preserved, with minimal evidence of handling. The original box remains complete but shows expected age and storage wear, including edge and corner wear, and rubbing to the metallic gold finish. Please review all photographs for exact condition.
Every Disney collectible tells a story. This deck preserves a colorful image of the Disneyland Hotel during the era when arriving guests could watch the Monorail glide directly past the hotel — a wonderful piece of early Disneyland resort history.
