Original Vintage 1950s Vestal Steak House Restaurant Menu Binghamton Route 17 New York
The Vestal Steak House sat on U.S. Route 17, the Vestal Parkway, about 3½ miles west of Binghamton, New York, owned and operated by Morris and Rosalind Protage. Billed as the \'home of char-broiled steaks\' and recommended by Duncan Hines and AAA, it counted twice-baked potatoes and French onion soup among its favorites, and its landmark was a roughly two-story fiberglass black Angus bull mounted on the roof canopy, a well-known sight along the Vestal Parkway. The restaurant is long gone — a Comfort Suites built in 2008 later occupied the site — but when it closed the owner declined out-of-state offers for the bull, and a local group raised about $10,000 to buy it; the bull now stands in the Story Garden at the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier in Binghamton, repainted with flowers and renamed \'Blossom\' after a 2021 renovation.
It measures 13\" x 10\" closed and 20\" x 13\" open.
