Vintage 1950s King G209 Armature Growler Tester Auto Shop Garage Equipment

Vintage King Electric Equipment Co. Model G209 Armature Growler, manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio.

Great piece of period automotive electrical service equipment, likely dating to the 1950s era.

Testing performed:

Tested briefly and powered on normally.

Produces a strong magnetic field at the growler poles.

Approximately 43 ohms measured on both HIGH and LOW settings across 110v spades when unplugged.

No continuity detected between the AC power connections (spades) and metal chassis.

No armature was available, so actual armature testing was not performed.

Features include the original analog bar-to-bar test meter, meter adjustment control, HIGH/LOW selector, attached side test leads, and the particularly attractive original red glass pilot jewel/lens.

The lower-right terminal/contact block is present but does not currently have a fastener/bolt installed. Its function was not tested.

Cosmetically this shows substantial age and use, including finish wear, scratches, oxidation and general shop patina.

The original power cord is deteriorated and should be replaced before further operation.

Because of the cord condition and inability to perform a complete armature test, this is being sold as-is for restoration, display, collection, or repair.

An excellent period piece for a 1950s service station, automotive electrical shop, vintage garage, dealership or automobilia display.
