Vintage 1950s Japan Black Cat Table Lighter Memory of Japan Mt Fuji MCM Kitsch For Sale

Fantastic vintage mid-century Japanese novelty table lighter featuring a glossy black ceramic cat standing beside a lamp. The metal lampshade is decorated with a colorful “Memory of Japan” souvenir design featuring Mt. Fuji, a map of Japan and Japanese scenes.Marked “MADE IN JAPAN” on the underside. Believed to date to approximately the 1950s–early 1960s.The lamp incorporates a vintage lighter mechanism with its original hanging pull chain. Lighter has not been fueled or tested and is being sold as a collectible/display piece.Nice vintage condition overall. Ceramic body displays beautifully with no obvious major cracks or repairs noted. The metal shade shows noticeable age-related finish wear, oxidation/tarnishing, scratches and loss to portions of the printed decoration.
