Up for sale is a rare piece of Cold War history: an authentic, original 1950s Hanhart Minifon P55 / Mi-51 Spy Watch Microphone.Manufactured in West Germany during the height of the Cold War, this device was a masterclass in espionage concealment. To the casual observer, it appears to be a high-quality chronograph timepiece. In reality, it features a completely static, non-functional face that houses a highly sensitive, concealed microphone element inside the watch casing. The attached cloth-covered wire was designed to be threaded up an operative's sleeve, over the shoulder, and down to a hidden Minifon portable pocket wire recorder. This allowed agents to record conversations in plain sight simply by resting their wrist naturally on a table.Condition Notes:
The watch microphone is in good vintage cosmetic condition with a wonderful, authentic patina. The dial shows some light age-related spotting and minor wear appropriate for its 70-year history, adding to its character as a genuine historical artifact. The original cloth-covered wire and heavy-duty connector plug are completely intact. Please view the high-resolution photos to assess the exact cosmetic condition.Important Collector Note:
Per the original 1950s factory design, this item does NOT contain a clockwork movement and does not function as a timekeeping watch. It is entirely a specialized microphone housing meant for espionage use. The electronic components are untested and sold as a historic collectible.Perfect for collectors of militaria, Cold War history, vintage intelligence gear, or unique horological anomalies.Shipping & Handling:
