A spectacular mid-century porcelain figurine of a creeping, stalking red fox from the world-renowned Rosenthal Art Department (Kunstabteilung) in Selb, Germany. Produced precisely in 1949, this stunning wildlife sculpture features an incredibly expressive mold and masterfully hand-painted glaze work.
The underside features the green underglaze Rosenthal crown mark with dots designating the precise production year of 1949. It features the "Kunstabteilung Selb" factory print and is signed "Handgemalt" (Hand-Painted).
Retains its extremely rare, original gold-and-black foil luxury retailer label from the historic "Adam Gilbert" boutique in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Features the incised factory artisan initials "FD" and a hand-painted painter's mark "K" on the lower base.Incredible realism from the gloss finish down to the subtle muscle definition, black-tipped ears, and white-tipped tail.
