Up for sale is a classic, authentic 1942 Philco Transitone Model 42-PT94 tabletop tube radio. This is an excellent, untouched find straight from a recent estate/thrift estate loop, making it a perfect winter project for vintage electronics hobbyists, ham radio collectors, or tube audio restorers.
Cabinet Condition:The original wooden cabinet is structurally solid with no major cracks or missing chunks. It features a great, authentic vintage patina. A past owner carefully added the name \"MARGEE\" stenciled across the top lip decades ago, giving it a unique piece of personal history. The original front knobs are present, and the dial glass is beautifully clear with incredibly sharp graphics and zero flaking.
Chassis & Electronics Condition:The metal chassis has been pulled and inspected. It features a complete set of original Philco Loktal tubes. The paper speaker cone appears structurally intact from the rear. Looking underneath the chassis, the radio is entirely complete and unmolested. It features an older service replacement multi-section filter capacitor (50/30 MFD United Electronic Mfg. Corp.) alongside its original factory wax/paper capacitors.
Safety Note: The unit was briefly plugged in by a previous handler at the store and did not smoke, but it has not been tested further. Due to its age and original components, this radio is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, or full electronic restoration. Do not plug it directly into line voltage without proper testing tools (Variac/Dim-Bulb).
