Up for sale is a very rare and beautiful circa 1942 Gilfillan 5F Plaskon table Radio. I went through this radio about a year or two ago and conducted a complete electrical restoration, including a full recap and alignment. I also patched up the old speaker and added an inline fuse to protect the power transformer. The Radio works good here in SoCal with it's internal loop antenna and sounds wonderful! (You may need to turn the radio as the loop is bi-directional)
The radio's cabinet is in fantastic shape with only a re-glued chip on the bottom back of the cabinet (where no one will see it!). This Gilfillan has been sitting on the shelf for well over a year and I've decided it aught to go to someone that will use or enjoy it. I woke it up from the shelf today and replaced a flakey 6SQ7, I also had to work the volume control back and forth to get rid of the scratchies it had. The plastic dial lens is loose, but I don't want to tear into that as some things are best left alone. The radio also has the incorrect knobs, but it doesn't look too bad with these ones. (One sticks out a bit far)
