Vintage circa-1930s Mutual Benefit Health & Accident Association
of Omaha advertising pamphlet.
Wonderful piece of prewar American insurance advertising with a
striking illustrated front cover showing a hand holding coins and
the slogan:
"LESS THAN IS SPENT FOR TOBACCO!
A FEW CENTS A DAY WHILE YOU ARE WELL..."
The pamphlet opens to a dramatic two-page advertising spread comparing
insured policyholders with an uninsured individual under the headings:
"THESE PEOPLE said 'YES!' — WE NEED INSURANCE"
and
"THIS MAN said 'NO!' — I DON'T NEED ANY INSURANCE"
The interior includes photographs of Mutual Benefit policyholders
along with examples of benefits paid and a period newspaper-style
feature headlined "CRIPPLE DIES PENNILESS."
The reverse lists numerous disabled policyholders, their causes of
disability, monthly benefit amounts and total benefits paid to date.
