Vintage Hamilton Sangamo synchronous electric tambour (camelback) mantel clock, Style S-502. Made by the Hamilton Sangamo Corporation of Lancaster, PA and Springfield, IL, a short-lived early electric clock venture between Hamilton Watch and Sangamo Electric, around 1930. Sold for parts or repair.
Features:
- Classic tambour case with a dark mahogany finish and figured veneer panels flanking the dial
- Silvered dial with bold Art Deco Arabic numerals and an inner minute track
- Dial marked "Hamilton Sangamo Synchronous," "No. 30613," "Made in U.S.A." and "To start move lever to right and release"
- Black spade hands
- Start lever at the bottom of the dial
- Brass bezel with hinged door
- Original maker's plate on the back reading "Hamilton Sangamo Synchronous Motor Clock Style S-502, for operation only on 110-125 volts, 60 cycles"
- Original cloth-covered cord and plug
Condition: For parts or repair. The clock does not run. The front bezel glass is missing; the brass bezel and hinge are present. The case shows scuffs, scratches and finish wear, mostly on the top curve, edges and base. The dial has light surface scratches and marks. The cloth cord is frayed and has old electrical tape where it enters the case, and it will need to be rewired. Sold as-is. Please see photos for details.
