ORIGINAL, not a modern reproduction or a common 1970s dealership giveaway. This is a genuine mid-century European-made badge featuring premium historical construction
Approximately 5/8” in diameter
Manufacturer: Verified production by Steinhauer & Lück (S&L) of Lüdenscheid, Germany—a prestigious and historic medal and insignia workshop founded in 1889
Maker's Mark: Stamped clearly on the reverse with the signature S&L clean circle hallmark (the "Lüdenscheid O")
Hardware Construction: Features a period-correct, early horizontal safety-pin style clasp mounted to a circular brass baseplate
Front Design: Features the early-era serif font for the "BMW" lettering, along with a glass-like cloisonné enamel finish in blue and white quadrants
Great vintage condition…front enamel is bright with nice colors and crisp gold-tone borders and no cracks…there is one tiny “flea bite” along the perimeter between the letters “M” and “W” that is so small it is difficult to see in photos
The brass back has not been cleaned or polished and has its original patina
The pin mechanism is in good condition and functions perfectly
