This is a rare, well-preserved piece of firefighting history that makes an exceptional display item for collectors of militaria, first responder memorabilia, or industrial decor.
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
• Original Wood Carrying Case: Features sturdy metal-reinforced corners, functional latches, and an intact leather top handle.
• Original Instruction Paper: Affixed to the inside lid, detailing the "Directions for the use of the La France Mask" with clear, graphic illustrations.
• Face Mask & Hose: Black rubber face piece with integrated flexible breathing tube and attached head harness/straps.
• Canister Type DG: Original brown metal canister marked "For Use in Smoke, Gas and Ammonia" featuring the iconic American LaFrance safety cross logo.
CONDITION DETAILS:
This set is in good vintage condition given its age. The wood box is structurally sound. The exterior paper label shows scuffing, edge wear, and paper loss along the bottom. The interior label remains highly legible with minor staining. The rubber on the mask remains intact, though the glass lenses show significant clouding, oxidation, and crystallization typical of aged safety gear. Please review all photos carefully to evaluate the exact cosmetic condition.
